Unlocking Longevity: Keys to a Longer Life
1/30/2024
Get healthier this year with Tennova Healthcare and the YMCA
KNOXVILLE, TN - Many people believe that life expectancy is largely determined by genetics. However, there are multiple factors that are key to extending longevity that go beyond genetics. Tennova Healthcare and the YMCA have partnered to share how our community members can incorporate a lifestyle plan that can boost their birthday count!
This program focuses on 5 keys that are the foundation for increasing longevity, supported by research studies around the world. These keys are:
- Nutrition
- Know Your Body
- Sleep
- Movement
- Mental Health (and Community)
“Having access to necessary wellness resources is central to resilient aging,” says Tony Benton, CEO Tennova Healthcare East Market. “As access to information increases, opportunities for individuals to maintain improved health grows. We are proud to work with our local YMCA to help provide this avenue for access as well as support in the goal of increased longevity for our communities.”
These keys will be presented by Tennova Healthcare providers through workshops at 4 area YMCA locations each month. The workshop topics will be:
- February: Reducing Your Risk for Heart Disease
- March: 5 Ways to Support Gut Health
- April: Living with Allergies
- May: Know Your Body (Women’s Health)
- June: Catching Issues Early (Men’s Health)
- July: Redefining Stroke Prevention
- August: The Freedom of Movement (Keys to Joint Health)
- September: Burning the Candle at Both Ends (All About Sleep)
- October: Not Just for Injuries (Physical Therapy Keeps You Moving)
- November: Feeding Your Body (Practicing Nutritional Intelligence)
- December: Be Kind to Your Mind - Surprising Longevity Factors
“At the Y, we know that our members want to stay active and healthy as they age. Our focus has always been on well-rounded health - spirit, mind, and body. We are proud to offer our Y members research-based, professional workshops on increasing longevity from the medical team at Tennova.”
